In Dortmund, for food, Reef bought a chicken to grub on for the night with some bread, somehow, someway, this chicken , “Eddie” was still with us before our trip to Denmark, thru 4 flights. For some reason Reef believed this chicken non- refridgerated would still be good after a couple days, so he chose for it to be his carry-on. we refused to let him eat it, and we had to put it to rest, cause he was ready to fly to Denmark with it. ….. hahahahahaha ,we have provided a picture of the late Edward.So Denmark was only and hr and a half flight. Very easy , got to the telly and everyone slept til soundcheck cuz we basically went straight to the airport after Helsinki. Soundcheck was great , the promoters were great , they had a beautiful spread of food, liks, drinks, anything u can think of. im assuming the venue was very new because this place was immaculate. we basically chilled, and celebrated the tour , had a great time, which was a relief for the end of the trip. Good crowd, dope show, and great fans. THANK GOD! To top it off, after the show they reserved a booth for us, V.I.P status at a club in the basement we didnt realize was there. We had a 6am flight, so we basically partied til the last possible minute. SO, needless to say , this was a wonderful way to end the tour, despite the death of Eddie, sorry Reef!

Johannesburg, South Africa, February 24, 2008

Our trip to Jo-Burg was nice and easy. The plane was only delayed by a few minutes and the flight was smooth. During the flight, Kenzhero was filling me in on the mind state of the folks in the hip hop scene in South Africa. Everyone has their story about that in each city. Basically, here there is a lot of subtle racial divide, even amongst black people here so some hip hop records are embraced more by black people than half black/half white people and vice versa. The groups consider themselves completely separate. Although, the United States has it’s own set of issues, that particular issue seemed outrageous, especially since for the most part in USA, anyone with black blood is considered black. Either way, the people here, black, white, and mixed, have been embracing us with so much love.

Our first few hours in Johannesburg consisted of getting the tour of places most tourists would probably never see, including the coal mines where the workers are paid as little as 10 dollars a week. We also got to see the hostels where all of the workers reside. It is something to see for sure. Being a privileged American we are rarely exposed to the realities of other parts of the world in person. Being an artist on top of that, exposes us to a whole new level of privilege. Speaking of which, a group of us went to have dinner and check out the venue we were playing the following night when I got reminded of how many fans Bahamadia really has. Some people next to our table were getting besides themselves and began harassing her for autographs during dinner. When she refused because she had a fork up to her mouth, a dude started getting pissed and the owner of the spot placed a bodyguard at the table. When you’re working with a grassroots artist like Baham, as humble as she is, you often forget about that element…

The following day, we spent nearly 8 hours of the day doing interviews. Everyone came to meet and talk to us from HYPE Magazine (Similar to XXL), to Sprite who was taping a TV Special on the show. We rested for a lil bit (and I do mean a lil bit) before heading to the venue to rock. The outside venue was filled to capacity and the crowd was going crazy from the beginning of the show until the end. We had a blast doing what we do. I did a tribute to the history of Philly Hip Hop and it nearly gave me chills to see how much people love records that came out of our city. Following our show, I immediately headed inside the club to rock the rest of the night with Kenzhero to a huge crowd of people who erupted every time any joint by Little Brother, Foreign Exchange, Talib Kweli, or Pharoahe Monch came on. They love the Rawkus era out here! It feels like 98 all over again out here.

South Africa has been so kind to us so far and I look forward to kicking it for the next couple of days with our hosts before heading back. We have a couple more press stops but mostly, we should be able to rest up somewhat.

Day 10. Helsinki, Finland

After 2 flights to Helsinki, we were beat and didn’t have tons of time, like usual, but everything was flowing on schedule. We chilled a lil bit, then headed to sound-check. The venue was dope, but , unlike every venue previous this place was totally unprepared, no food, no liquor, nothing but weed for the smokers. which kept them happy, but, whatever, they said shit was on the way, and we ain’t on no rock star shit, we were just hungry basically, cause we don’t drink until show time. sound was good, sound man was real cooperative. We went back to the hotel, the show was a late one and there was some local support, so we had time. Nothing to really do but find something to eat, stores were closed and we are just exhausted. We got picked up around 10pm, didn’t set up merch but for a half an hour cause we all are sold out. holla! Heres where it gets interesting. THESE FINNISH MOTHERFUCKERS GET FUUUCKED UP! I mean any drug you can think of, these cats were on. Kids were stumbling everywhere, fighting, throwing up, i mean retarded!!!!!! There was a chic bouncer who i saw throw out at least 10 dudes and chics, and everyone she tossed were passed out, literally. The promoters were even trashed which was not cool, and we really didn’t enjoy that part of the situation. Mind you, there was a lot of bouncers, and that was 1 chic bouncer, so i would say 100 people got thrown out. There was 600 people by the way, and the show was sick, but cats were mangled everywhere like it was legal! So, needless to say Finland was bonkers in many more ways than one! Helsinki stand up! that is, if you aren’t too drugged up and intoxicated! see you in Denmark.! Roskilde here we come, flight is at 7am- fuck!

Cape Town, South Africa – February 22, 2008

Sheesh, I’m exhausted. The show in DC with Hezekiah went well and as always I’m sure he picked up some new fans. We rocked an intimate set at The Bar Nun Lounge on U Street and then headed over to Marvin to check out DJ Jahsonic who is part of the Soul Controllers Crew who frequently opens their doors and collaborates with Illvibe Collective. Dope night overall. I got a chance to talk to my manager a little before my trip, then had to bounce to come back to Philly and pack for my next flight. No worries on the lack of sleep factor since I had 25 hours of travel time ahead of me.

Before we got on the plane though, Bahamadia and I had to do an interview with DJ Emmo for an underground hip hop TV show based in New York. It gave us time to sit down and enjoy our last chicken cheese steak for a lil while. Soon after, it was time to head to the mother land.

We were both excited since it is our first time on African soil and were wondering how the experience would be.
Once we touched down in Johannesburg, we were greeted with open arms by 20 cab drivers who refused to take no for an answer. I’ve experienced aggressiveness in certain places but the folks here trying to make a buck will really stretch the limits to get you to go in your pocket. Fortunately it wasn’t long before we met up with my man DJ Kenzhero and his assistant who took us to our next flight to Cape Town. It was another 2 hours in the air before we could relax. Once we arrived in Cape Town we were met at the airport by a group of folks involved with the show and other fans of Bahamadia. They were concerned about us having a safe flight and wanted us to see friendly faces, fresh off the plane from Johannesburg. Once we dropped our luggage at the Villa, we were taken to our first authentic South African dinner at the house of some friends of the promoters. They fed us well with cuisine from Soweto and put on a play for us. It was beautiful, even though it took us a few minutes to get used to eating everything with our hands.

We decided to go back to the Villa and get as much rest as we could since the next day was filled with press stops starting at 8am. We did a morning show with DJ Victor on Buzz Radio, then headed to breakfast. Shortly after, we went to do an interview for a TV show called Street Journal then waited for our next group of interviewers to show up. They ended up having to reschedule since it was conflicting with our itinerary a bit. Went to lunch, which was one of many delicious meals here in South Africa then did a phone interview with a radio station. From there, we drove up the mountain to our next interview with another TV Show which was conducted at a local record store and did a lil shopping in the process. There are always a ton of interview stops on the road with Bahamadia so I’m used to it at this point. It’s still tiring though. Especially when we have to perform the same night.

The show was bananas though! The crowd was wide open and all the classics made them go buckwild. After the performance, me and Kenzhero rocked the crowd with new and classic hip hop joints. I’d like to extend a sincere THANKS too all of the folks who came out to party. No one held back their kind words and excitement for us. I love this town.

Well, we’re at the airport now about to board a flight back to Johannesburg, affectionately referred to by the people here as Jo-Burg. We’ll be taking it easy tonight and rocking tomorrow as well as doing more press there.

Sorry for the long blog. We’ve been so busy running that this is my first opportunity to write since we left America.

Day 9…Dortmund, Germany

We got to Dortmund with time to spare, everybody caught up wit their emails and got a lil rest. hotel was kinda around nothing. but , we got to live station, did the sound check which was a pain in the ass, the soundman couldn’t get shit right. the mics were distorted, and beats had no bottom end, after 2 hrs, we finally got it poppin, but it made us late, which we never are. we the only on time rappers ever ….. backstage was a dump , no henny had to settle for bacardi, but, it is what it is, we got shitty , tore it down, sold merch, the crowd was retarded, not huge but we did the damn thing, and merch as well. so another good show, off to Helsinki. On a side note REEF has a weird friend Eddie attached to him……

Day 8..Amsterdam

Well, hungover like crazy, here we are in Amsterdam. Everyone linking up at 1pm in the lobby, to go to Patta, a dope sneaker spot, Sabac got hook ups at. Reef and DFI came up on some gems. We ate but had a sound check at 5pm so we were limited with time as usual. Venue is dope!, baby cham was rockin the other other stage , this spot MELKWEG was gigantic. Backstage spread was best yet. Food, beer, grub, everything dope! Uninteresting but key for us.Sick Nature opened up, hes real dope, he did two beats on AOTP album, he nice spittin too. Crowd was high as hell so it took a minute for them to heat up but once they did its a wrap! We did our thing, Jeru rocked with us at the end on Sabac set, we tore it down! not sold out but good turn out. Couldn’t tell u how the rest of the night went , after merch cleared i bounced. Tomorrow, Dortmund, Germany, Holla !.

Day 7…Paris & Amsterdam

What’s good? well, a day off is always good. we went and saw the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and the beauties of Paris.We all took flicks for the memory , copped some souvenirs , and did the whole tourist thing. We wrapped it up so we can get on the road to Amsterdam. Thats a 5/6 hour trip. We stopped in Belgium for some grubbed, and arrived in Amsterdam around 7 pm. we settled in, then went to party. reef, and Sabac’s camp, Revolution of the Mind were in their glory with the smoke. Me and Crypt got smashed , on that cognac, at a Spanish bar. They played reggeaton, and salsa all night, and it was fucking weird, but we had a ball . At least 8-10 shots of henny and a lil patron put us over the top. Amsterdam is scattered, tomorrow, we gonna hit some stores and get ready to rock, hopefully we have a good turn out. pre- sales are positive, so we see what happens. holla!

Day 6..Paris, France

We made it! After another canceled flight in the morning, and 2 hrs of stressed out rappers and dj’s, we switched up the plan, stepped our game up, and got our hiphop asses to Paris early. Thank God. First impression was, damn it looks like Kensington here, wtf?! Where we stayed was nice, but the surrounding area was very dirty, and congested. After the 2 days of bullshit, the motivation was still non- existent. We rested up til sound check, some stayed back because it was hard top catch up and get better. Sound check was whatever, the usual, same ol’ shit. Couldn’t tell what the vibe was, we went back, got situated for a minute then all got ready to go.Venue was dope. They had local openers, we couldn’t see the crowd, so the vibe was still hard to tell. Reef went out and that when shit changed., we were like, “yo it sounds popping out there” Reef storms through the door, drenched in sweat as usual and says, “yo these people here are bananas” looking like a fighter runnin back to his corner searching for water, without the bubbles of course. From that point, we all got our momentum back, we broke out of our misery and destroyed it. The show was sold out, merch was beautiful, and there’s how it went. Dope! Autographs galore, pictures galore, interviews. They were very passionate fans, much respect to Paris. Tomorrow, we going to the Eiffel Tower and show you guys the beautiful side, then we’re off to Amsterdam for our show Wednesday. Holla!!.

Day 5..Thessaloniki, Greece..

I would love to tell u how dope and beautiful Athens is but, we never got there. We got on our plane, made a stop at Thessaloníki, Greece, all we need is 40 minutes on the plane. Not that easy, Athens had a snowstorm, and shit shut down! The show got canceled, they put us in a hotel and there it went. We’re trying to find a way to get to Paris. Everyone in the airport is ignorant, but Sabac being the person he is knows how to actually work around asshole people without losing his mind.. So, after a horrible fuckin day, Stress ready to kill people and Reef being a mad-man, we’re settled for now. Did anyone know this other Reef I never knew? He’s a maniac! haha well, it kept us entertained to say the least, during the drama. Something tells me it ain’t over. Hopefully, we see you in Paris.

I learned something very valuable during the ride to the airport in Barcelona. Something I will be able to take with me for years of traveling to come. The lesson I learned is that I’m an all day sucker. Seriously. Not only is there a sliding price scale for everything known to man in Spain but the concept is totally accepted and legal. Basically there is one set price for local Spaniards and another much more expensive price for foreigners. How is it that a ride from the airport 2 weeks ago cost me 23 euros and a much quicker, early morning ride back to the same airport cost 35 euros??? Basically the taxi driver saw Americans headed to the airport and was like “you muthafuckers gotta pay up.” It’s bad enough that our money is nearly worthless next to the Euro but now me and my girl are in a cab with a dude that charged us like 35% tax on a 15 min drive. Unbelievable. These cats make the taxi drivers here in Philly seem kind. Anyway. All went well with the flights back home. Every time I return to the States, I’m so relieved to be back and see the Philly skyline even though when I’m home for an extended period of time, I tend to get restless. I mean aside from Homeland Security doing everything short of a rectal exam, I feel pretty welcome. And Munich, where my flights connected was no better. I usually get stopped when I travel with my sound efx processor or my mixer, not the mention the serato box and endless wires. But for these cats to dump all the gifts I bought for my friends out on the conveyor belt is just invasive. They’re examining shotglasses for residue of terrorism??? They made my girl take a picture with her camera. If the camera didn’t blow her up, she could bring it on the plane. Yeah, we feel really safe… That part of traveling, I could really do without. Anyway, back home for a few hours. Headed to DC tonight to do a lil show with Hezekiah then headed to Johannesburg with Baham. Long ass flight ahead of us. I will have to pack plenty of reading material and reload Pure Elements and The Sure Shot onto my iPod. wink wink.

Day 1 Feb 13…

So we landed in Frankfurt, Germany around 9 am. Shortly after we met the promoter, and for once we had a day off to start the tour. Tomorrow is Geneva, Switzerland. We received good news that Zurich and St. Gallen are sold out already so we’re hyped up! Before we went to the hotel we went and got some breakfast, which ended being everybody drinking espresso and Me and Crypt sippin on doubles of hennessy. Afterwards, we went and checked in and got some rest before we went to a video shoot for a a song we did with the snowgoonz, which we’re proud of, the beat is nuts! The shoot was about 3 hrs long, we got to paint some walls, which had us gassed, we wanted to get old school T, but check for the video to see that sht. Stress has this retarded camera, so we left with some dope pics. Sabac and his camp had flight issues so they stayed at the telly exhausted. Reef and jus still love weed. Basically, the rest of the night consisted of chillin, internet cafes and a 6 pack to split before we rocked out for the next day…..thats where we stand right now, see u in GENEVA
