Jonene Taddei is your local dancer, bartender, and most importantly, photographer. Capturing the emotions, thoughts of music’s finest, Jonene is 1/2 the brains and beauty behind Philly’s first DJ Day, in which she with the help of some people gathered and photographed Philly’s past, present and future DJ’s. Along with Kamau Stanford, Taddei urged the Mayor Nutter to make September 24th DJ Philly Day – which was solidified earlier this year. Taddei just opened up her digital website, which gives you just a tiny glimpse into her world. Below, you’ll see another view.

1. Do you have any non-lady like qualities? If so, name 3.
I AM a non lady. I like sneakers. and smokin blunts with dudes. talking about music. batting cages. love the batting cages. any kind of sport, I’ll play it. love to play … not watch though. I HATE heels. I’m already 5′8, who needs em’?
2. What is the percentage of female strippers do you believe really are doing it to pay their college tuition?
I honestly think about 25% go into it thinking that that’s what they’re doing but then its like “why am I going to go to college when I can make 10 gs here in a week?”. I bet there’s like 3% or some shit who actually get out and go to college. who cares anyway … they’re fun to look at

4. Ever wore the same thing to a wedding and a funeral?
I avoid weddings at all costs. if ur reading this, don’t invite me. I’ll make up some excuse not to go, for real. I hate them. people wore jeans to my wedding and j dilla rico suave was our wedding song. I CALLED people and told them to show up. no invitations, no shower, no cackling girls running around. very small, justice of the peace, our immediate fams and friends. Funerals? only been to one. my aunts. most of my family past before I was born.
I don’t like wearing things twice. I still have shit in my closet from 10 years ago with tags on them. so if I had to I prob wouldn’t wear the same thing.
5. Whose concert wouldn’t you attend even if they gave you front row seats?
. Lord. I got a laundry list. I’m a music snob. you can only take me to certain places where I’ll actually enjoy the music (yeah like a place that plays Justin. I know some smartass is thinking that lol) uuuuuummmm I guess Kenny Chesney. he just bothers me. his jeans r too tight and he looks really short.
6. Do you see yourself living anywhere else, besides Philadelphia?
nope. i’m making my mark in philly. things are happening
i will have a vaca house in malibu … so i can visit justin. kidding!!!lol but i want one of those beautiful old houses in chestnut hill and a vaca house on the beach in malibu.
7. Where is the hottest place you’ve ever been? As in temperature?
my bedroom after taking ecstasy, closing the door and fogetting to turn the heat down
8. When is the last time you stayed up for 24 hours – what was it for?
uuuuummmmm prob like 2 days ago. i have really bad insomnia 
my mind never shuts down. ideas ideas ideas. the other night i was up writing down quotes from my favorite songs and thinking about what i could do with them in my book. its a good and bad thing. i’m often tired, but on the other hand when i open my store its gonna be ridiculous bc of all the shit i stayed up thinking about to make it the best hip hop store in philly!
9. Are you afraid of getting shots? (like at the doctor)
YES!!!! i hate needles. I’m infatuated with drug addicts, but have to hide my face when i’m watching intervention and they shoot up.
10. Who was your favorite person to photograph and why?
dj mutha fuckin excel. he is the most photogenic person i’ve ever shot i think. the first time we went out to shoot we barely knew each other and he was great. he can hear when the shutter is going off and knows to change his position. he is VERY fun to shoot. very animated.
11. How many pairs of sneakers do you own?
…. uuuuummm right now, like 30 … its a recession lol
12. Is there any language you wish you could speak fluently?
spanish. i love the culture and the language. my husbands friends just brought me over rosetta stone
13. What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Jazzy Jeff told me yesterday that I was a great person
14. How about the worst compliment you’ve ever received?
Ron Crawford “u still rockin ‘THOSE kicks”.
15. What do you think is more important – experience or education?
Experience … look where my temple education got me. in debt to aes and a camera in my hands and NO I didn’t even major in photography … go figure lol
16. Ever shot a nude photo shoot? (as in the subject is naked…not you )
Nope … posed once for the money… but never shot anyone
17. Where did you meet your husband?
Lol 1996 club fever. he was smoking a blunt and I wanted my ecstasy to kick in so I asked him for a hit. he intrigued me b/c he knew EVERY word to EVERY song Storm spun. and he was tall. 6′4 .. I love tall men.
18. Worst job you ever had?
Restaurant industry.
19. Did you have a nickname in high school?
Nene (neen) those who are really close and know there hip hop ALWAYS say the beginning of de la’s buddy “meana meana meana” but say “nena nena nena” lol
20. Do you dress up for Halloween? If so…what was your favorite outfit over the years?
Never. not into holidays like that. I only like holidays when I get things. xmas and my birthday. I’m a selfish only child what can I say
